Monies available and online GRE practice

The link that I am providing has sample GRE questions that might help as you review for the test. http://education.yahoo.com/

If you work in a public library, you may want to share this information with the administration.
Grow Your Own @ Your Library Institutional Scholarship --PLA will provide nine public libraries with a lump sum of $8,000 each to be distributed to as many of their employees as they choose for the purpose of working toward obtaining an MLS-- $6,500 is to be used directly for payment of tuition at an ALA-accredited library school; $1,500 is to be used to support attendance for one or more of the selected scholarship recipients to attend a PLA-sponsored CE conference such as the 2008 PLA National Conference. http://www.pla.org/ala/pla/plaawards/growyourown.htm

Northern Virginia trip

Dr. Samantha Hastings and I made the trip to Northern Virginia January 31 - February 2. I kept positive thoughts about traveling and snow but we actually flew between snows. On the return, when I flew into Charlotte, NC, there was snow around and I was told plenty of ice and sleet earlier.

The meetings with prospective cohort participants were fun. It was rewarding to see so many persons eager to take the professional challenge and commitment required to get an MLIS.

As all of you know, classes will begin fall 2007 and that means the first sessions will be toward the end of August. There will be an orientation in VA also. We (USC SLIS) will travel to you.

Since some of the contact information is now way down the blog postings, I want to remind you of the SLIS webpage: www.libsci.sc.edu. Look under For Future Students. Note the contacts in Student Services. As you are preparing your admissions packet, you may wish to speak with someone in that office.

If you haven't joined the listserv, I encourage you to do so. I have given the steps further down in the blog.

I would like to hear from you. Usually a question you have is one someone else has. What helps one helps all. :)
