Example of Scholarship Possibilities

As you continue to prepare your admissions material, I will continue to post information that I hope will be of benefit and will continue to encourage you as you make the MLIS commitment.

For full-time students pursuing school media certification, please note the following opportunity.AASL School Librarian's Workshop Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student preparing to become a school library media specialist at the preschool, elementary, or secondary level. The recipient must pursue graduate level education in an ALA-accredited library school program or in a school library media program that meets the ALA curriculum guidelines for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The $3,000 scholarship is donated by Jay W. Toor, president, Library Learning Resources. For information on how to apply, go to http://www.ala.org/ala/aasl/aaslawards/schoollibrarians/aaslschoollibrarians.htm

Hi! I am thinking about applying to USC to start the program in the fall. I am looking at all the information trying to decide with program would best suit me. All of this would be much easier if VA had a master's program. But what can you do? :) I am finding myself really overwhelmed. I was wondering if you could offer any insight or advice/opinions. It is nice to know that there are other Virginians in the same boat.
